Steps to obtain a Washington State School Social Worker ESA certificate post completion of an MSW:1. Hold a master's degree in social work from a regionally accredited university which has a council on social work education (CWSE) accredited program; 2. Complete 300 hours of volunteer experience with a certified school social worker in a K-12 school setting. This must be documented on the Post graduate field experience log (click to view and print) and signed by a district administrator. 3. Complete the required course in social work and school law through a regionally accredited university approved to offer a school social work certification program. 4.
